IET responds to launch of Lutz Pathfinder driverless car

Dr Anna Bonne, Head of the Transport Sector at the Institution of Engineering and Technology, said: “The launch of the Lutz Pathfinder is the start of the transformation of the UK’s transport network. Introducing driverless cars to streets could improve road safety, reduce pollution and congestion, as well as keeping people mobile for longer. Much of the technology needed for autonomous vehicles does already exist and is being used in our vehicles already, such as stay in lane technology, speed control and reverse parking assistance, so the introduction of the Lutz Pathfinder is the next exciting step.”
