It has been reported that over 80 TLS certificates used on US government websites have expired and have not been renewed. This has resulted in many being inaccessible to the public with NASA, the US Department of Justice and the Court of Appeals just some of the US government agencies currently impacted.
Commenting on the news is Tim Erlin, VP at Tripwire:
“Information security isn’t a one-time event. There’s no ‘set it and forget it’ option for keeping systems and assets secure. When the people who perform the day-to-day tasks that keep things running securely aren’t around, we’re bound to see a slow, unavoidable march towards entropy.”
