NEW FORD MONDEO ESTATE HYBRID JOINS ITS 1959 PREDECESSOR ON M1 TO CELEBRATE THE MOTORWAY’S 60TH

The new Ford Mondeo estate hybrid has been paired with the 1959 Ford Zephyr police
estate from Ford’s heritage collection to mark 60 years of the M1.

The MkII Ford Zephyr is the only surviving police car to have patrolled the newly opened
motorway.

A police-liveried Mondeo estate hybrid will accompany it to Toddington Services North on
June 5 for a joint Ford and Highways England photo call.

M1 operators Highways England will explain how motorways have changed over the 60-
year life of the M1, and share driving advice for the summer months and holiday
journeys.

The new Mondeo estate hybrid — newly on sale and combining over 600 litres of luggage
space, five seats and a petrol and electric hybrid powertrain – will be available to drive on
the day and/or on loan afterwards.

Ford fleet director Owen Gregory and Mondeo hybrid product manager Steve Derby will
give interviews between 1100 and 1300 at the services on June 5.
