Dynavolt Triumph head straight back to work as the 2021 Quattro Group British Supersport Championship continues this weekend with round eight at Silverstone.
Despite a technical issue in race two, Kyle Smith claimed a podium and valuable championship points at Snetterton and the 29-year-old currently sits fourth in the championship as the title battle hots up with four rounds and eight races to go. Adverse weather conditions prevented any real progress at Smith’s first visit to the home of the British Grand Prix for the official test back in April, but he arrives at the Northamptonshire circuit with the top step of the podium as his target.
Kyle Smith: “I’m really looking forward to this one. We had the pace last week but had some issues and didn’t get the results we were capable of so I want to be up the front for this next one.”
As teammate Brandon Paasch sits out this round due to injury, Smith is joined in the Dynavolt Triumph garage by Isle of Man TT legend, Michael Dunlop at the 1.6-mile, fast and flowing Silverstone National circuit.
Dynavolt Triumph Team Manager Simon Buckmaster: “Brandon is having surgery on his wrist to insert a screw this week and aims to be fit for Oulton Park so, standing in for him this week is Michael Dunlop who is very well known to us as a team and everybody else. It will be quite exciting to see what he can do this week, there is no pressure on him but it will be interesting. Kyle got another podium at Snetterton, he did have some problems but he managed the situation. Obviously we have to look for wins to see what we can do in the championship, that has to be our aim. We are in good shape, there should be an adjustment to the balance of performance situation this week so hopefully that will be in place and it will be a very competitive race. We are looking for the win with Kyle and let’s see what we can do with Michael. Looking forward to seeing you all there, let’s go.”
British Supersport action kicks off from Silverstone with Free Practice One on Friday at 09:35hrs (BST).
